These dishes are staples of Indonesian cuisine and are certainly worth trying. However, the popularity of Bakso (Chinese Meatball Soup) cannot be overstated. Found in dedicated Bakso restaurants and sold by motorbike-driven food carts, Bakso is a comforting and flavorful dish enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
But the culinary journey doesn't stop there. Indonesia boasts a rich variety of dishes that will satisfy even the most discerning palate. Some of my favorites include:

And the list goes on, with foods like Babi Guling (Balinese Roast Pork), Gado-Gado (Vegetable Salad with Peanut Sauce), Pastel Goreng (Fried Pastries with Savory Filling), Soto Ayam (Indonesian Chicken Soup), Tahu Goreng (Fried Tofu), Sambal (Spicy Chili Salsa), and Klepon (Glutinous Rice Balls coated in Shredded Coconut), all waiting to be discovered and savored.
The Ultimate Food Tour in Yogyakarta
As my two-month journey neared its end, I decided to treat myself to an unforgettable culinary experience. I hired a local guide to take me on a full-day food tour in the city of Yogyakarta. For over thirteen hours, we navigated the city, visiting the best food joints, sampling delectable dishes, sipping on traditional drinks, and indulging in sweet, rich desserts. It was the perfect way to bid farewell to the country that had captured my heart with its tantalizing cuisine.
